The bill that declares the ‘Mayor Infante Rivarola’ military detachment a protected wilderness area, obtained half sanction in the Chamber of Senators this week.
In the ordinary session this Thursday, the Upper House dealt with the bill “Declaring a Protected Wilderness Area under the private domain of the State with the special category of management of the generic name ‘Nature Reserve’ to Military Detachment No. 2 ‘Mayor Infante Rivarola ‘, property of the Ministry of National Defense”.
As a strategic geopolitical place for Paraguay with potential for the conservation of tourism, national and regional connectivity, the president of the Legislation Commission, Hugo Richer, described the site.
He argued that the objective is to preserve the natural resources and ecoregions of the dry Chaco, as well as the ecosystems of the area that contribute to the conservation of flora and fauna.
The legislative proposal was approved with modifications from article 1 where it is declared a protected wild area under the private domain of the State with the category of special management under the generic name of “Natural Reserve”, subject to the provisions of Law No. 352/94 “From protected wild areas”.
The modifications were suggested by the Ministry of Defense and the project was sent back to the Chamber of Deputies.
