Both aldermen of the People’s Force in the Mayor’s Office of the National District the session of the Council of Regents and of the work commissions until the administration designates different people in the General Secretary and the Juridical consulting.
Robert Martinezspokesperson for the People’s Force bloc, said that the withdrawal had been agreed with the Dominican Liberation Party bloc because the mayor insists on keeping Mr. Ricardo Ayanes Perez Nunez in the double function of Legal consultant Y general secretary of the Mayor’s Office.
It indicated that Law 176-07 in its article 152 establishes the functions of the general secretarywho is appointed by the Council of aldermen at the initiative of the mayor. He said that they were not given the opportunity to express their opinion because they were denied the right to a previous turn as established in the Council’s agenda.
“We are going to agree as a block, but for the moment we are not going to return to the session or to the commissions until what we request is fulfilled, we do not have a date to return to the sessions and commissions, we do not we are rubber stampwe do not make opposition to do, we do it when the due process is not carried out, ”said Martínez.
The other councilor of the People’s Force, Nerys Martinez, stated that they could not stay in the session when they had been denied the right to speak. He indicated that they have acted consistently since they approved the appointment of Ayanes on an interim basis and he has been in office for several months without a substitute in sight as required by Law 176-07.
He reiterated that the charges of General Secretary and Legal Consultant are incompatible and he said he did not understand why a new official was not appointed and wondered if there are not more people in the PRM who could occupy one of those functions.
“They want to fix something then, it is not possible for the mayor to have a trusted person and I don’t know why she needs a trusted person if she acts transparently. We are not asking them to remove it as Legal consultant nor how general secretarybut that another person be appointed in one of the two positions because the same person cannot be judge and party,” stressed the councilor.
Martínez indicated that two of the aldermen of the PLD who proposed to withdraw from the session did not attend yesterday’s session and the others stayed, despite the fact that they had agreed to leave.
