Barahona.- President Luis Abinader handed over to the National Institute for Professional Technical Training (INFOTEP), the historic Guarocuya hotel in the Barahona province, where the Guarocuya Tourist School Hotel Technological Center will be installed, to train the human capital that will work in the development of the tourism of the Pearl of the South as it is known and of the entire southern region.

The president stressed that with this new infrastructure, INFOTEP’s own facilities and the services that this important institution provides in the country would be tripling.

He added that now Barahona is going to have these facilities, not only with the hotel part, but also, it will help in the technological part because in the development of the entire tourist area, personnel with these capacities will be required.

The head of state indicated that it is a cohesive plan that, in addition to technical and professional development, includes the road infrastructure that the region demands.

“With the highway that we are building from Barahona to Enriquillo and from Enriquillo to Pedernales, it is a revolution in real terms that we have here in the south,” said Abinader during a tour of this province.

President Abinader stated that all of these are plans that are working to create jobs and the infrastructure that can sustain those jobs.

He stated that this installation will not only have the support of INFOTEP, but that an important hotel company will also collaborate in the administration of the hotel to work together on the training of the students.

“Now with education, with infrastructure, with jobs, we are changing from the vicious circle to the virtuous circle of development,” he stressed.
