Havana Cuba. – The former political prisoner Leudys Reyes Cuza is under “harassment and harassment” by the Cuban regime, according to what the activist himself denounced before the cameras of CubaNet. In the last 10 days, he said, he has been summoned by different institutions on more than five occasions.
Recently, the former political prisoner had to appear by means of a summons before the Popular Municipal Court of Rule, the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), the head of the Council and the factors of his place of residence.
“All this harassment and this harassment is due to the fact that the head of the Council says that I am involved in the protests that took place here at the White House, where mothers and children demanded that the Government turn on the power after the passing of the Hurricane Ian”.
“First I was summoned to the Regla unit, where they threatened me. Then they also summon me to the Court of the same municipality, where they let me know that I owe five months of a sanction that I already finished serving a long time ago, “explained the opponent.
The sanction in question dates from the month of December 2019, in accordance with sentence number 47 of the year 2022, issued by the Popular Municipal Court of Diez de Octubre. The document, to which he had access CubaNet, specifies that Reyes Cuza and another activist staged a peaceful protest near the Monterrey Fair (La Cuevita). For this reason, he spent seven months in the Valle Grande prison, until he was released on bail.
“They change my measure and give me bail. So in 2021 they make me stand trial and sentence me to one year in prison for public disorder, subsidized by correctional work without internment. But I already fulfilled that and now it turns out that I owe five months of compulsory work. This is a State Security maneuver,” denounced the opponent.
Reyes Cuza also assured that the actions taken against him by the regime’s authorities respond to the “strict control” that the political police intends to maintain over him, with the intention of neutralizing his political activism.
“They want to force me to work so that I can’t do activism, because if I refuse to start working then they will send me to prison,” he concluded.
