Tycoon Elon Musk confirmed this Thursday the purchase of the social network Twitter, after several months of rumors and speculation about whether the operation would finally take place.
The owner of Tesla and SpaceX assured that he bought Twitter “for the future of civilization” and defended the existence of this network as “a common digital square where a wide spectrum of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way.”
The purchase occurred when there were just over 24 hours left before the expiration of the term that a judge had given him to open a process if the acquisition was not formalized, according to a report from the agency EFE.
Already this Friday, Musk announced that he will create a “content moderation council” on the platform, which will be characterized by including “widely diverse points of view.”
The tycoon, who has chosen his own Twitter account to communicate some of his intentions, said in a tweet that “as long as that council does not meet, there will be no further decisions on content or account reestablishments.”
Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.

With that last sentence, Musk seems to be referring to all those who have seen their accounts blocked in recent years for violating the network’s content policies, mostly for posting hateful messages or writing insults. EFE.
The Spanish media points out that the most prominent account among those affected has been that of former US President Donald Trump, blocked on Twitter and other social networks such as Facebook after the assault on the Capitol in January 2021, considering that he had instigated his followers to carry out these violent acts.
The agency reports that this same Friday, Trump welcomed Musk’s takeover of Twitter by posting on his Truth social network that he felt “happy because Twitter is now in the hands (of people) sane,” but did not clarify if he had intention to return as a user to a network of which he came to make almost compulsive use.
Musk has yet to confirm, via tweets or otherwise, the dismissal of Twitter’s top leadership and the conditions attached to those dismissals, confirmed by several major US media outlets.
This Friday the deadline given by a Delaware judge to cancel the open case after the complaint of the previous Twitter administration against Musk expired. Legally, the case was opened because the tycoon had failed to purchase him, but now, once the acquisition has been resolved, the judicial conclusion of the file remains to be known.
