Electricity distribution companies announced measures to prevent possible problems with supply during the second round of the general elections, this Sunday (30), when more than 156 million voters will be able to vote to choose the President of the Republic.
In addition to the head of the federal executive branch, voters will help define the governors of 12 states: Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Santa Catarina, Sergipe and Sao Paulo.
Responsible for serving approximately 15 million customers in 18 states and the Federal District, the Neoenergia Group resumed the preventive protocols already implemented in the first round, in its five concessionaires: Brasília, Celpe (PE), Coelba (BA), Cosern (RN) and Elektro (SP and MS).
In addition to re-inspecting the electrical network that supplies the polling places and the courts and electoral registers, the group’s technicians carried out preventive and corrective maintenance on the electrical circuits of all the federative units served by the distributors. The company also claims to have reinforced the teams of employees who will be on duty during voting day.
In the Federal District alone, where it claims to have re-inspected around 180 kilometers of the electricity grid, Neoenergia guarantees that it will increase the number of on-call technicians by 38% to avoid or resolve any problems with the energy supply as quickly as possible. In Rio Grande do Norte, where more than 2.5 million voters are eligible to vote, Neoenergia Cosern will monitor in real time the 1,495 polling places in urban and rural areas.
The three distributors belonging to CPFL (Paulista, Piratininga and Santa Cruz) also have special service plans to guarantee supply to 4,092 polling places in 301 cities in São Paulo, three in Paraná and three in Minas Gerais. The planning will be put into practice as of tomorrow (29) and includes an increase in the number of technicians on duty with the guidance, if necessary, to prioritize attendance at polling places.
The companies that make up the Equatorial Group will also continue with the operational procedures established before the first round. Equatorial Maranhão, for example, will have 270 teams available throughout the day, including maintenance trucks already positioned in strategic locations. The same number of teams of collaborators that Equatorial Pará plans to distribute throughout the entire territory of Pará.
