President Daniel Ortega ordered his deputies before the National Assembly to “urgently” approve a law that replaces the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (ProNicaragua) with the newly created Secretariat for the Promotion of Investments and Exporters.
The regulations establish that this new Secretariat is under the dependence of the President of the Republic, in such a way that Ortega places under his direct control the investments of national and foreign capital.

The new dependency will have the same functions as ProNicaragua, which is directed by the also sanctioned son of the presidential couple, Laureano Ortega Murillo; with the exception that he does not mention the formation of a Board of Directors and makes it clear that he may represent the Government in the signing of any instrument of cooperation in matters of private investment and foreign trade.
Dictator Daniel Ortega blamed the United States for the migratory crisis of Venezuelans and Cubans, for the sanctions imposed by that government on these regimes, however, he did not openly refer to the current massive outflow of Nicaraguans to the north.
This new attack comes three days after the Treasury Department sanctioned Nicaragua’s gold industry, its main export product.
According to the president, the North American country is the one that has applied “the most sanctions” in the world, and therefore, has caused the “greatest damage and crisis.”
“Then they are there complaining why immigrants continue to impose sanctions and more immigrants will go to the United States,” Ortega said furiously, this Thursday during the 43rd anniversary ceremony of the Ministry of the Interior (Migob).
Ortega also attacked the statements of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, who compared Europe to “a garden” and the rest of the world to “the jungle”, and described the words “nonsense” of the official.
«What disrespect to the countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, but Mr. Borrell does not say that that garden, that the wealth that the European Union has had, was watered with the blood of millions of brothers, that is that garden, a garden stained with blood,” said the dictator.
This Thursday the Special Law came into force that allows citizens with expired identity cards to vote in the next municipal elections scheduled for November 6, and incorporate and activate citizens with ID cards to the electoral roll for both municipal and regional elections.
The law was approved the day before, unanimously, which members of the independent observatory Urnas Abiertas have cataloged as a “desperation of the regime to hide the abstentionism in the municipal elections.”
Daniel Ortega removed Michael Campbell Hooker, who had held this position since January 2021, from his position as Nicaraguan ambassador to the Indian government. The official was also removed from his position as alternate representative to the Organization of American States (OAS). .

Previously, Ortega had also removed Francisco Campbell Hooker, father of Michael Campbell, from the position of permanent representative of Nicaragua to the Organization of American States (OAS).
Francisco, faithful to the dictatorship, is also the Nicaraguan ambassador in Washington and the former diplomatic post before the regional body had been assigned to him after the complaint by Arturo McFields.
