Authorities receive illegal weapons seized as evidence of crime in SDE

Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry of Santo Domingo Este delivered to the Ministry of the Interior and Police 152 illegal firearms of different calibers seized as evidence of crimes committed by people already detained.

They were received by the Minister Jesús Vázquez Martínez, who assured that they will not return to the streets to injure and kill more human beings, since they are not to take lives, but to save them.

He explained that the recovery is part of the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy “My Safe Country” and the inter-institutional agreement with the Judiciary and the National Police.

The official said that the efforts to recover weapons must continue throughout the country until all the illegal ones are recovered and thus be able to provide the country with a greater and better climate of peace, respect and security, for which he asks all the actors of society to be involved in this process.

Meanwhile, the analyst of the Judiciary, Duany Antigua Rojas, maintained that the objective of this installment is to strengthen the program developed by the Ministry to combat insecurity.

He argued that one of the goals on the agenda is the sustainable development of this initiative, through which they stipulate to eradicate, stop and combat the illicit business of these artifacts.

The director of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then; the deputy ministers Aníbal Amparo García, of Arms Control and Regulation, Jesús Féliz Jiménez, of Internal Security, and the director of Registration and Control of Possession and Bearing of Arms, Sterling Pérez, among other civil and military officials.
