The Government and the Investigative Police (PDI) finalized on Wednesday the expulsion of 49 foreigners convicted of crimes associated with drug trafficking, robbery with violence, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. This was reported by the Undersecretary of the Interior this Thursday.
The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalvesaid in a statement that “the successful operation resulted in the expulsion of 45 Colombian nationals and four Ecuadorians, where an Air Force plane took off from the Los Cóndores de Iquique air base bound for Guayaquil and Bogotá.”
The Undersecretary of the Interior confirmed that all those convicted of drug trafficking
who were expelled committed their respective crimes before entering
validity of the new immigration legislation (February 12, 2022).
For his part, the director of the National Immigration Service, Louis Edward Thayercommented: “Without white overalls, without spectacles and respecting due process, the PDI materialized the judicial expulsion order for 49 foreigners on a flight managed by our Service, where we continue to work and fulfill our legal mandate in this matter.”
From the Government they highlighted that the Government, Decentralization and Regionalization Commission of the Senate approved yesterday, in general and in particular, the bill that simplifies the administrative expulsion notification procedure to facilitate the work of the PDI and speed up this other type of expulsions.
