The second heat wave of the summer ends starting this weekend, predicted the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet).
From the afternoon-night of this Saturday a drop in temperature is expected, with rains and isolated storms. The institute warned that some may be “point strong.”
During Sunday the rains will spread throughout the country, and will persist until Wednesday. “The week will continue to be unsettled and wet,” Inumet forecast. The temperature drop is expected with a “cold front” on Monday.
Strong storms can be expected intense electrical activity, heavy rainfall, hail fall and strong winds. The intensity of the wind from the southeast will mainly affect the south and east coast of the country between Monday 17 and Tuesday 18.
This would culminate the heat wave that reached temperature records this Friday with 42.2°C in Florida, 41.4°C in Durazno, 41.2°C in Tacuarembo and 40.6°C in Soriano.
