The family of the 15-year-old Hispanic girl, who was shot 22 times while walking with her dog in a neighborhood southwest of Houston, Texas, on the night of Tuesday, January 11, will not rest until justice is done, as announced a relative of the girl.
In an interview with Univision, Diamond Álvarez’s aunt pointed out that so far the authorities have not ruled on the murder of the Hispanic woman.
“Something needs to be done, the case gets cold and then nothing is done. We need to know many things. We need them to contact us, to talk to us, to talk to their mother, to give them details, to tell them something…” Diamond’s aunt said.
He also pointed out that the family is devastated by the death of his niece, whom he described as a respectful girl, a good student, smiling and who liked to go out every night to walk her dog.
“(We have) a lot of emotions, we want answers, we did not expect this, nobody expected it. Her mother is very ill, we are with her and there are also people who are by our side providing support”, she said very dismayed.
So far it is known that the Diamond Álvarez case is under the Homicide Unit, however, the family is awaiting clear answers about who or who is behind the murder.
The mother is heartbroken
The young woman’s aunt also pointed out that Anna Machado, mother of Diamond Álvarez, is devastated by the murder of her daughter.
The day of the events, Machado told the press that he called his daughter after hearing several shots and minutes after seeing the dog enter the house, but his daughter did not answer the cell phone, so he went out to look for her.
“I tried (to give him) CPR. I couldn’t bring her back. I tried so hard to keep her alive,” recalled Anna Machado.
Meanwhile, the young woman’s stepfather, Tito Moczyygemba, has branded as “cowards” those who shot Diamond Álvarez at close range: “Whoever shot this girl 22 times in the back, they are cowards.”
Through a GoFundMe page, the young woman’s family has asked for help to pay for the young woman’s funerals and there they have also described her as a girl full of illusions, with a promising future that ended in the blink of an eye.
