MADRID, Spain.- An accident that occurred this Wednesday on the highway from Catalina to Güines left one dead and at least two people injured. The unfortunate accident was reported from the group of Facebook “BUSES & TRUCKS ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims!”.
In comments to the publication, witnesses to the incident explain that a red Hillman hit a white Chevrolet.
“I went through there. What happened was that one of the cars lost a wheel and threw itself against the other”, explained Yuniel Gallue.
After the crash, three people were transferred to the San José hospital and taken directly to surgery. One of these people was the driver of the red Hillman who, according to Alfredo Consuegra Martínez, died after undergoing surgery.
“I saw the red Hillman and it fell apart,” José Alberto Peña Dávila had pointed out.
Last Thursday an accident that occurred in Havana between a motorcycle and a bus also caused the death of one person.
In a video shared on social networks, the motorcycle was seen lying on the street, with blood around it, while several people carried one of the wounded.
The unfortunate event occurred at the intersection of streets 19 and 42 in the capital’s Playa municipality.
According to comments in the publication of witnesses to the accident, the traffic light at the aforementioned corner was without electricity.
The numerous traffic accidents that occur in the country, according to the Cuban authorities, are fundamentally due to speeding, not respecting the right of way, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, technical malfunctions and driver distraction.
Added to this are the poor condition of the roads, the poor signage on the streets, the lack of lighting and the lack of driver education.
