The company Pluspetrol North in liquidation denounced that unknown persons have cut the tubes of the oil pipeline in the Corrientes-Saramuro section and they have taken them in ships across the river. He pointed out that, if this fact continues, an environmental disaster could occur considering that there are 34 thousand barrels of oil distributed throughout the pipeline.
“There are two tubes in parallel, one has been cut and there has been a spill and the other tube has been cut into pieces and taken down the river to be sold in pieces. There are two tubes because, when one of them fails, breaks or is attacked, then the other is used. They have already produced an act of vandalism, of contamination, and I am concerned that, since people are angry, this will become a brutal ecological environmental disaster,” said the lawyer for the company Pluspetrol Norte in liquidation, Aurelio Loret de Mola.
The legal adviser refers to the four months that he has been invaded the Lot 8 camp by settlers that require the Government to attend to its historical socio-environmental demands.

He related that a month ago the company had already denounced that in the stretch between Corrientes and Saramuro one of the pipeline lines was being dismantled. That time they found 130 pieces of pipe already cut, stacked and ready to be transported.
Regarding these facts, Loret de Mola said that officials from the ministries of Energy and Mines, Interior and Defense, as well as Perupetro, but have not received a response. “The fundamental thing here is to restore order and prevent the cannibalization of the pipeline that goes from Corrientes, where Lot 8 is located, to Saramuro, which is where Petroperú should receive the oil”.
The lawyer said that on January 9, the residents of the community of San Juan Nativo came to the industrial zone of the lot 8 carrying firearms. That day they detained an articulated truck carrying an electric generator. In previous days they had taken two boats, also owned by the company.

More measures of force
The protesters argued that their actions would continue until January 15 in which they will meet with the Executive authorities to review their demands. They also threatened to radicalize their forceful measures, which would include vandalizing the camp. Percy Roses, if your orders are not fulfilled on January 15.
This camp has been occupied since August 27, 2021. About 80 people from the communities of San Juan Nativo, San Juan Campesino and San José de Nueva Esperanza they are living in this place and prevent the discharge of the 34,000 barrels of crude oil stored along the pipeline.
The secretary of the Secretariat for Social Management and Dialogue of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Giselle Huamani, confirmed that on January 14 and 15 the Executive will meet in Iquitos with the leaders of the five Amazon basins to see the oil agenda.
