After the Senator Mario Castaño will accept charges for acts of corruption that would have been committed in several departments of the country and it was confirmed that he will be sentenced for said act, the Congress of the Republic proceeded to decree the so-called ’empty chair’ for this case.
This figure prevents the Liberal Party, a group to which Castaño belonged, from replacing that seat, because the Constitution establishes when it comes to crimes committed against the Public Administration, the seat must remain empty.
