In a first approximation, the parties in the Chamber of Deputies defined positions regarding an eventual electoral reform, and although the PRI, PAN and PRD expressed their willingness to seek agreements, they stated that they will not approve anything that violates the autonomy of the electoral bodies.

In a firm, categorical and forceful manner, I point out that in the PRI we will not approve anything that harms the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federationinterrupted the PRI national leader, Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas.

During a work meeting where a hundred deputies from the Constitutional Points, Governance and Electoral Political Reform commissions converged, the benches agreed to set up a working group – made up of 21 legislators – to review the accumulation of initiatives and propose a route that allows make one, collegiate characteraccording to Morena.

Although Movimiento Ciudadano assured that the agreement is to discuss a project in November while the Qatar World Cup is taking place, the PRI coordinator Rubén Moreira defined that his bench is not in a hurry to vote on a reform, in addition to the fact that there is not even a draft.

For the first time, the PAN and PRD also openly expressed their position. The PAN coordinator, Jorge Romero, even referred to a potential electoral reform and at the same time, the Blue and Whites presented an initiative to reduce the overrepresentation of the parties in the chambers from 8 to 4 percent.

Morena reiterated that she is committed to a negotiation, rather than imposing her mechanical majority. I appreciate the willingness of the coordinators and the presidents of the commissions so that we can, in a democratic, political exercise, build an electoral reform that guarantees that we evolve in the democratic transitionhe indicated.

Also, in separate statements, PAN and PRI responded to the opinion of the Venice Convention, which warned of the risk of the presidential initiative in this matter.

In this regard, Moreno Cárdenas pointed out that The PRI will not allow any democratic backsliding, but neither will other latitudes where they have serious electoral problems come to tell us what we can and cannot do..

He added that for the tricolor the barrier is insurmountable: do not put democratic and credible elections at risk; failing to deliver the census and biometric data of millions of Mexicans to the government; do not allow organized crime to be linked or participate in the electoral processes of the country.

The president of the chamber, Santiago Creel Miranda (PAN), commented on the conclusions of the convention: We thank you very much for your opinions, but we have our own and we are convinced of them.

For his part, Moreira stated that his party does not anticipate your vote in favor of any reform, but it is important that all initiatives are aired.

He pointed out that the PRI goes to the dialogue, but We have clearly stated that we have a limit: we are not going to allow the autonomy of the INE and the Electoral Tribunal to be damaged, their certainty, transparency and in all the conditions that make their work possible..
