The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Swiss Embassy in Venezuela reviewed this Wednesday, October 26, the progress of a cooperation project they are developing to protect the health of the “most vulnerable” in the nation.
PAHO indicated that the project, which started in 2021, will run until 2023. Through a press release, it reiterated that one of the main objectives of the project, developed together with the Venezuelan Ministry of Health, is the contribution to the reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality, and of adolescent pregnancy.

The initiative also seeks to improve the capabilities of human talent in primary care for low-risk pregnant women and newborns. Through the bulletin of the international organization, it was learned that to date the project has reached 116 health establishments in Caracas and the 23 states of the country through the supply of supplies and training programs for health personnel.
PAHO reported that, together with the UN Population Fund, a “diploma in adolescent health throughout the life course” and another on the “comprehensive health of women, girls, and adolescents throughout the life course are being implemented, both in force and advancing in its second cohort that is taught in collaboration with the University of Health Sciences”, in Caracas.
The progress of the project was evaluated during a meeting in Caracas between the PAHO representative in Venezuela, Cristián Morales, the Swiss ambassador to the South American nation, Jürg Sprecher, and the director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Cosude). , Rudolf Krebs, in addition to several technical advisers of the organization.
