The president of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), Fernando Costa, was optimistic in the sense that the country’s social problems can be solved in the coming days and the Closing tournament of the Professional Division continues, as well as the Simón Bolívar Cup.
“Apparently there are favorable winds, so we hope that this is resolved and we who are linked to soccer can give a new dynamic to what remains of the Clausura 2022 tournament, ”Costa told the media in La Paz.
The head of the FBF maintains his position that the priority is that the Clausura tournament be played in its entirety and for them he awaits an authorization from Conmebol that allows him to play part of the championship during the World Cup.
“We are going to make every effort so that they can conclude the 30 dates. They’re calling a lot of club presidents to make inquiries, but unfortunately so far we have not had a response from Conmebol, “he reported.
Costa is optimistic that Conmebol will authorize the FBF to continue with the Clausura tournament during Qatar 2020 and a good reason is that Bolivia is not qualified for the World Cup
“We consider that yes, since we are not a participating team from Qatartherefore, we want to make sure that we are not going to have any sanction from both FIFA and Conmebol”, said Costa.
If the tournament is definitively suspended, article 34 of the Championship Regulations contemplates the distribution of prizes according to the accumulated table, but it doesn’t specify anything about descents, something that worries Universitario de Sucre, which is last; and Universitario de Vinto, which is in penultimate place.
“Our regulations do not contemplate situations regarding descents, so we are going to apply the norm insofar as it refers to the executive committee can resolve what is not determined in the respective regulations… Let’s hope it’s an extreme measure, because our goal is to conclude the tournament in its 30 dates and if we play some dates during the World Cup it will be with the consent of Conmebol, “he emphasized.
