HOW IS ALL SAINTS’ DAY CELEBRATED IN PERU?

Peruvians, on All Saints’ Day, have a tradition of going to cemeteries to visit the graves of their loved ones. To honor them, they bring flowers, cards and even musical groups. Families spend the day in the cemeteries, where they bring food and drinks.

HOW LONG WILL THE ALL SAINTS DAY HOLIDAY LAST?

All Saints’ Day is this Tuesday, November 1, but the government has decreed Monday, October 31, non-working for the public sector, which will join Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 of this month, which are usual days of rest. In this way, you can enjoy four days off in a row to travel, spend time with friends or family.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOLIDAY AND NON-BUSINESS DAY?

Although you can rest on both days, take note of the differences:

Holiday

The holiday is a national holiday in which workers, both in the public and private sectors, can stop working. The same happens with the students, who stop going to their classes. In the event that an employee works on a holiday, he will receive additional remuneration, which is normally triple, even if it is Sunday.

Holiday

The non-working day is decreed by the government in power and is aimed at the public sector. In private, the employer will decide if their workers work or not. If in case an employee works normally, this does not mean that he will receive an extra payment, but the same daily salary, without increase. For those who rest, they must compensate with overtime, work on Saturdays or consider said hours as part of the vacations.
