DR makes advances in Global Innovation Index 2022

According to Global Innovation Index 2022, made by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Dominican Republic shows notable progress in the areas evaluated in relation to previous periods.

Bartolomé Pujals, executive director of the Cabinet of Innovationsharing the results, stated that the country’s performance was analyzed in seven areas.

The Global Innovation Index corresponding to this year established that, in relation to the development of the market, the Dominican Republic advanced 20 positions compared to 2021 and achieved 21 points compared to 2020.

The Innovation Cabinet made public that, in institutional matters, the country managed to advance 16 positionsthus surpassing the years 2020 and 2021.

“Of the seven pillars that were analyzed, the country advanced in five Y stepped back in two. In a general sense, the Dominican Republic advanced three positions, previously we were in the 93rd place and we now occupy the 90th position”, commented the executive director of the Cabinet of Innovation in a press release.

Pujals mentioned that the favorable data produced by the study have formed an integral part of the work that has been carried out by the executive direction of the Innovation Cabinet.

He recalled that in Decree 278-22, which approves the National Policy on Innovation 2030 (PNI2030), the innovation was declared of high priority national, as a transversal policy of the State and a tool for the generation of useful knowledge to transform society.

Likewise, the aforementioned decree creates working groups for the implementation of the PNI2030 and this policy is directed from the highest level of the government, since the Innovation Cabinet It is led by the President of the Republic.
