Less than two months before the referendum for the repeal of the 135 articles of the Urgent Consideration Law (LU), 49% of the citizens would vote with the pink “Yes” ballot, while only 41% said they would vote with the light blue ballot of “No”.
The LUC is much more unpopular among the 18 to 35 age group: 74% of the people surveyed in this group spoke out against the LUC, which the government of Luis Lacalle Pou describes as “popular”.
10% of those surveyed said that they are still undecided, and that this “could change the definition of the referendum,” according to the sociologist and director of Nómade, Daiana Viera.
Regarding the knowledge of the content of the 135 articles to be repealed and the referendum, 51% said they know “quite a lot” but 35% admitted that they know “little or nothing”. About 9% do not know if the vote is compulsory or not.
Government approval and disapproval
The survey by the consulting firm Nómade was carried out online last December and was completed by 670 people. He asked the volunteer participants about issues related to government management in health issues and those related to the pandemic, economic, social and others, as well as the degree of approval of political figures and the instance of the referendum on March 27.
Regarding the approval of President Lacalle Pou, it has remained relatively stable between May and December 2021, but in the interior it is more popular in the last measurement (52%) while in Montevideo just over a third validate it. of respondents (37.7%).
