The Senator Gustavo Bolívar, member of the Historical Pactrevealed that he will resign his seat in the Congress of the Republic.
In recent years, Bolívar has been a squire to President Gustavo Petro. The senator confirmed to EL TIEMPO that he is going to resign when he finishes his year as president of Congress, which has not yet begun.

“I don’t feel comfortable because I have to go back to my old life very soon. I have a huge tax gap and I can’t get to one of those points. If I were corrupt, here in the presidency of the Third Commission I would make money, but I came to change that, to defend positions”, Bolívar revealed in an interview with Semana magazine.
Initially, Bolívar did not want to return to Congress or submit your candidacy for the current term. However, at the request of President Petro, while they were still campaigning, he agreed.
“Rule out the fact that I will continue here for four years, I had said that I did not want to return, but the president asked me to head the list and I accepted it with the commitment to be here for a short time and Gustavo Petro knows it”, he assured.

The writer, who came to Congress four years ago, has become one of the the most visible faces on the left. He has even been critical of the very members of his party.
Finally, Bolívar assured that before leaving he seeks to pass the tax reform and the large projects arising from your commission. Among his next projects, he also said that he is publishing a book, which will come out when he is no longer a senator. “It will be very revealing about politics in Colombia,” he assured.
