The Senate approved this Tuesday afternoon a new extension of the State of Exception for the provinces of Biobío and Arauco, in the Biobío region, and all of La Araucanía. Earlier, the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies also supported the Government’s request to extend the measure.
The Senate supported the request of the Executive with 35 votes in favor, one against and two abstentions. In the Chamber of Deputies, the extension obtained 113 votes in favor, 19 against and four abstentions.

The Government issued the measure for the first time on May 16, 2022. Later, it was extended by decree. Subsequently, in compliance with the constitutional order, he asked Congress to extend the State of Exception. This has happened nine times, including this last one.
The penultimate extension approved by Congress is valid until October 28. The new one will last for 15 more days.
