The VI Binational Peru-Colombia Cabinet, headed by the presidents Pedro Castillo and Iván Duque, reached several agreements, among which highlighted strengthening support for border populations through the continuity of the Binational Fund for the Border Integration Zone.
For this, Peru will contribute around S / 12 million to continue with the execution of social and productive development projects in the Peruvian provinces of Ramón Castilla and Putumayo and the Colombian ones from Amazonas and Puerto Leguízamo.
With this investment It will continue to benefit more than 500 cocoa producers in the Putumayo border area, that involves both countries, through the project “Cocoa value chain”.

Likewise, technological development will be promoted throughout the cocoa production process to generate greater added value in this product and strengthen the technical capacities of small producers.
Regarding tourism development, work will be done on binational projects in the lower Amazon and in the Putumayo basin to increase the income of border communities.
The project called “Mamás de la frontera,” which seeks to reduce maternal and newborn mortality through improvements in health care and technology transfer, will also be strengthened. It should be noted that this program has benefited mothers from more than 30 communities, mainly from the Peruvian towns of Soplín Vargas and El Estrecho (Putumayo, Loreto).
The meeting between both presidents and their ministers was held in Villa de Leyva (Boyacá- Colombia), where a joint return was approved.

For his part, President Duque highlighted his desire for greater Colombian investment in our country, as well as from Peru to Colombia.
“We can say that today Colombia and Peru have their relations at the highest point on investment and trade; We are going to work on the objectives of bringing more Colombian investment to Peru and more Peruvian investment to Colombia, ”said the Colombian president.
Another aspect that Duque highlighted was collaboration in cross-border security.
