Cattleya: imprisoned accused ratified

Ratifican prisión a imputados en caso Cattleya

The Second Chamber of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of the National District ratified this Monday the
preventive detention of three members of the alleged human trafficking network for the purpose of exploitation
sexual dismantled with the case Cattleya.

The measure was ratified for the defendants Oscar Wicene or Wilcene Oscar, Alejandro Arturo García Bustamante (el Gato) and Mrs. Zafiro Nathaly Sánchez González, who, by order of the Permanent Attention Court of the National District, have served 18 months since last August. preventive detention in different penitentiary centers of the country.

The authorities arrested these defendants during Operation Cattleya, which was launched on August 4 by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Against Illicit Trafficking of Migrants and Human Trafficking (PETT), headed by its head Yoanna Bejarán.

According to a press release, the judges of the appeal court Isis Muñiz, Luis Omar Jiménez and
Rosalba Garib decided to reject the appeals filed by the accused through
of their technical defenses.

Due to their connection to the Cattleya case, the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District also imposed preventive detention last August on the accused José Miguel Michel Guridis (Michel), Daniel Enrique Inirio Abreu (Daniel), María Paula Murillo Vargas, Cristina Virginia González Hernández, Angélica Jhoana Quintero Niño, Robert Lee Eleuterio Paniagua Díaz, José Alberto Soriano Rosario (Surgeon), and Sergeant Dionicio Mieses de la Cruz (Dionis).

The process also involves the Caribe and Oscar hotels, in the Gascue sector of the National District. Likewise, to the Coco Real hotel, in Bávaro, Punta Cana, La Altagracia province.

During Operation Cattleya, the Public Ministry carried out dozens of raids in the National District and Bávaro. This is the product of an extensive investigation that began nine months ago and with which it dismantles transnational networks dedicated to human trafficking. Mainly to exploit them sexually.

Operation Cattleya rescued more than 80 female victims, mainly from Colombia and Venezuela.
