Democratic Socialism values ​​the election of Deputy Ibáñez as the new helmsman of Social Convergence

Along with affirming that part of the renewal of politics rests on his shoulders, Deputy Diego Ibáñez —elected president of Social Convergence— declared that he hopes “that the constitutional process continues, that the right fulfills its campaign promise, and that these dialogues are not dilated in a petty way”.

The truth is that the conversations around the constitutional agreement continue and, for the new helmsman of President Gabriel Boric’s party and member of the Broad Front, in these meetings “the legitimacy of the process is at stake.” In this sense, Diego Ibáñez maintained that as Social Convergence “we are willing to generate all the bridges so that the constituent process continues and that the people of Chile have the dream of a New Constitution supported across the board next year.”

The bridges referred to by Deputy Ibáñez are not only between the ruling party and the opposition. Also among the government coalitions: I approve of Dignity and Democratic Socialism.

Ibáñez acknowledged that the ruling party has about 40% in the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies and at the same time has a minority in the Senate. Likewise, he stated that his responsibility and his greatest act of support for the transformations is “to build transversality”, since “a force that claims to be transformative can never give up this concept.”

“A large part of our program depends on our ability and our audacity to go beyond ourselves. We came with a mandate for change, for transformation, and we want to fulfill it for the Chilean people. That implies that politics have fewer egocentric and narcissistic fights and talk more about people’s daily problems”, raised the parliamentarian and new leader of Social Convergence, regarding relations with the other ruling parties.

“We need to build a majority to combat the rise in the cost of living, give our neighborhoods more security. And we are going to leave our skins to be a bridge of dialogue between both coalitions and that we focus on what is important: good living” , he added.

Asked about relations with the President, the new helmsman of Social Convergence affirmed that “our President is very attentive to this election and sends all of us his affection and his love so that we do very well and rise to the challenge that also It’s your challenge.”

Lorena Meneses, elected general secretary of the party, highlighted the high number of votes and participation that the Social Convergence elections had. She explained that there were more than 8,000 votes in total and that they will seek to be “the articulating party of the social forces and also of the government program.”

The new vice president of Social Convergence, Ximena Peralta, said that “we have a new national leadership that takes on beautiful challenges: to set up our party as a consolidated, firm one, that gives political support to the social movement, that collaborates in the reconstruction of that movement, that the organization is taken seriously and how we unite in this context, which is not easy”.

Democratic Socialism values ​​election of Ibáñez

The election of the deputy Diego Ibáñez and the new Social Convergence directive was well seen from Democratic Socialism. The PPD helmsman, Natalia Piergentilli, stressed that it was a forceful election, the most participatory of the Broad Front parties, and she expressed her best wishes for the elected officials.

The president of the Socialist Party (PS), Paulina Vodanovic, did the same: “Congratulations to Diego Ibáñez, the next President of Social Convergence. Success, partner with your new board,” she wrote on Twitter.

The President of the Radical Party (PR), Leonardo Cubillos also extended his congratulations to Diego Ibáñez and Convergencia Social, “for the democratic process carried out.” The radical leader added that they hope that with him “the bridges of dialogue and coordination with I Approve Dignity will be strengthened, which will allow us not only to advance in support for government management, but also to materialize the changes in which we are all embarked. , in a framework of security and growth”.

From Approve Dignidad, meanwhile, the senator and president of the Democratic Revolution (RD), Juan Ignacio Latorre, congratulated the community “for its democratic process of internal elections”, extended “a fraternal greeting to all its leaders” and sentenced: ” The Broad Front advances with strength and hope.
