The director of the municipal district of El Aguacate, in Arenoso, Duarte province, is stable and out of danger. Orlando Nolascowho underwent surgery after being shot by an agent from the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett).

The incident in which Nolasco was injured occurred when the official tried to prevent the arrest of a person who had defamed the agent when trying to control it.

In a video that circulates on social networks, it can be seen how the director of the municipal district subject to Digesett member to prevent him from leaving the place.

The municipal executive insisted on the release of the citizen and not let the agent leave, so in a threatening tone he told him “we are going to solve it as you want”, while the agent told him: “excuse me, sir trustee!”.

The discussion lasted several minutes and due to the struggle the motorcycle fell on top of the agent, who drew his weapon and wounded the mayor in the abdomen, who had pounced on him to prevent him from leaving the area.

Nolasco was transferred from the emergency room to a health center in Nagua, in María Trinidad Sánchez. The National Police reported last night that the agent is detained in San Francisco de Macorís for the investigation process.
