In the following days, it will arrive at Peru a high level group of Organization of American States (OAS). It will make an analysis of the political crisis that Peru is going through.
For him former president of the Constitutional Court, Óscar Urviola, the arrival of the OAS representatives will change things and will be a boomerang for Peter Castle. All this will happen after the acts of corruption for which the president is being investigated are reported.
“[Pedro] Castillo, you are very ill advised. She has pressed a button that has activated a boomerang for me. [Todo va a cambiar] when the observers come and make contact with those who have not made contact so far. The only contact has been with Mr. Almagro. He has brought information totally unrelated to what is happening in the country. (…) and the cake will be turned over to the lord [Pedro] Castle. He has pressed a button that is going to catapult him to jail. Because the OAS is going to say that democratic institutions are working in Peru,” he said.
He considered that the OAS has exceeded itself by supporting Pedro Castillo, after activating the Democratic Charter in order to preserve the institutionality. “The only thing he has had to do is send the observer commission to verify on the ground all the lies he has told [Pedro] Castle. Now we Peruvians have to admit that this commission has to come to make contact with all the constitutional bodies that exist in Peru”, he specified.
Urviola, considered that the information that the Attorney of the Nation, Patricia Benavides, provided to Congress, could be used for a vacancy because there is important information about the conduct of the president that could well be qualified as permanent moral incapacity or suspension from office.
He explained that another possibility is that through a change Constitution, the Article 117 and the possibilities of accusing the president based on the elements provided by the prosecution are extended. “This will have to be decided by Congress. [Debe decidir] whether the claim of the Prosecutor of the Nation is possible or not. But it is a valid document in the exercise of an investigative function.”
