Yacimiento Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) affirmed this Thursday that the protocols, operation and maintenance routines that are carried out at the Bulo Bulo Ammonia and Úrea Plant (PAU), in Cochabamba, are not the same as a production stoppage.
The state oil company assures in this context that the factory is operating with “total normality, since the restart of its operations.”
“Do not confuse the protocols, operation and maintenance routines, as if they were production stoppages. The only strike that was carried out, which caused damage to equipment and economic losses, was executed in 2020, ”says a press release.
He adds that, in order to guarantee the reliability and safety of the equipment and systems of the petrochemical complex, the state oil company fully complies with the operation and maintenance routines, in accordance with the design of the PAU to satisfy technical and commercial requirements.

The statement is made after reports leaked in the morning of this Thursday about the daily production reports of the plant in which they indicate that the production of the fertilizer dropped considerably from December 29, 2021 to December 7. January of this year, because it is under maintenance.
However, on Tuesday, January 11, YPFB together with the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) carried out an inspection of the factory and assured that it is fully operational.
On September 6, 2021, President Luis Arce restarted the operations of the Ammonia and Úrea Plant with the aim of guaranteeing the country’s food sovereignty, strengthening national agricultural production for export at competitive prices and consolidating the Ichilo-Mamoré Waterway .
