The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (asonahores) announced today that a “historic involvement” in the 34th edition of his Commercial Exhibitionwith an average of more than 4,000 visitors per daya figure that “far exceeded” the attendance of 2019, which was the last exhibition held.
On this occasion, dedicated to the United States for being the main issuing country of tourists to the Dominican Republic, reported that more than 400 delegatesas official buyers at the event, reflecting an increase of more than 30% in the business impact of this fair in the tourism industry.
He reported that they participated in total 192 companies who occupied 410 standsall suppliers of national and international products and services, of which the 30% participated for first timeas new members of the fair, with a wide portfolio of proposals that promote commercial exchange in the sector.
Simultaneously, an agenda of more than 20 talks and press conferences, as well asactivities and workshopshaving for the first time academic offers from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo, the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (Pucmm), and the National Institute of Professional Technical Training.
Agreements and online courses
The Commercial Exhibition, “the largest of its kind in the Caribbean”, served to obtain signatures of interinstitutional agreements.
Among these agreements is the one signed by IE University, the Ministry of Tourism and Pucmm, to teach from the Dominican Republic online courses in the area of tourism, endorsed by the World Tourism Organization, through its Online Tourism Academy.
An agreement was also signed between asonahores and the Employers’ Confederation of the Dominican Republic (copadom), to undertake a joint strategy with the purpose of promoting and developing projects and actions to promote the implementation of best practices.
Executive Vice President of asonahores, Andres Marranzinihighlighted that this year the fair was 30% larger than previous editions, with 1,100 meters more space.
He also noted that for first time the Commercial Expo incorporated the education sector as a participantin order to promote the professional training of collaborators in the tourism sector.
