MIAMI, United States. — U.S. authorities released last night 36 Cubans who entered the United States with final order of deportation and that they had been detained by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE).
The release of the immigrants came after the Cuban exile community, with the support of Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, mobilized outside the ICE Processing Center in Krome, Miami-Dade County.
The Cubans, who had been detained in recent weeks, entered the US two years ago with I-220B deportation orders and had been detained after attending their respective immigration authorities, a fact that raised alarm among Cubans. who have not yet managed to regularize their legal status in the northern country.
The liberation of the migrants was recorded and shared on social networkss by the journalist Mario J. Pentón.
“They locked us up there unfairly, because we are legal here, and we are doing everything by law. We don’t have any kind of problem, and what we need is for there to be support to continue making documents… We are doing well in this country. This is the country of freedom,” said one of the Cuban immigrants after being released.
After receiving the news, María Elvira Salazar called on the Cuban community to continue to monitor these cases.
“I have been talking with the relatives of the Cubans detained by ICE and apparently they have begun to release them. We must remain very vigilant because we do not know what the Biden Administration has negotiated with the Castro / Diaz-Canel regime! ”, Said the Republican congresswoman in a video shared through her account from Twitter.

The event was celebrated by Democratic Senator Annette Tadeo, who also made the case of Cuban immigrants visible.
“This issue should never be partisan. Thanks again to the Biden administration for listening to our calls and now we must ensure this never happens again. Happy for the families that have already been reunited,” Tadeo said on the same social network.
