The plenary of Congress approved the last Thursday October 20 two proposals for a legislative resolution, which propose the entry of two maritime military delegations from Brazil and Chile. This request was supported by the congressman of Country advances and Chairman of the Defense Commission, Diego Bazan.
Legislative resolutions 2906 and 3287 propose “authorize the entry of naval units and foreign military personnel with weapons of war into the territory of the Republic of Peru”. Both projects were debated and approved in a second vote. The entry of these foreign units would be occurring at the beginning of November.
The incoming military personnel come from two countries, in the first case, the Brazilian Navy, which plans to carry out a official visit to the port of Callao from November 8 to 10 aboard the Brasil Training Ship (U-27), so his entry is scheduled for the period between 6 and 13 of that month.
In the second case, there is General Service Boat LSG Arica, belonging to the Chilean Navy, which is scheduled to arrive at the port of Ilo from November 2 to 5. On these dates he will participate in the Neptune Hydrocarbon Spill Pollution Control and Combat Army
These visits will occur less than a month from serious data breach Peruvian Armed Forcesin which confidential intelligence plans were disseminated, for which the Army has not yet taken action.
Bazán justified these two resolutions by indicating that the visit of these two military delegations “would increase professional ties in activities related to the promotion of measures of mutual trust with neighboring countries”, since “The benefits are highly favorable to the interests of the Peruvian Navy and the Peruvian State.”
