Cortés: Morena wants electoral reform by bending the weak opposition party

“The president wants to destroy our democracy, he wants to put an end to transparency, to accountability, he is against autonomous bodies, against free expression and decision, against the bodies that carry out audits, which question and dislike any critical institution. that forces him to render accounts and make public information transparent or that calls into question the supposed achievements that he proclaims daily,” he considered.

Cortés accused that this is because President López Obrador “does not like counterweights”, so – he announced – he will seek to approve new rules that favor his party.

“The president wants a weak arbitrator to control him, he wants him in a way, he wants him on his side, like the members of his Cabinet, governors and Morena militants, who are incapable of questioning his totalitarian and arbitrary decisions,” he said.

The leader announced that he will insist on his proposals for electoral reform, after “the PRI failed to comply with the constitutional moratorium.”

The PAN proposes to incorporate into the Constitution three figures on electoral matters and two adjustments to existing regulations; incorporate the second round in the presidential election; the nullity of the election due to the participation of organized crime; reduce over-representation in the Chamber of Deputies and regulate the government’s social communication.
