A group of leaders of the Christian Social Reformist Party (PRSC), who leads Hector Rodriguez Pimentel and assures that it will assume “Balaguerismo” as its ideology, it launched the “Corriente Renovadora” this Sunday and chose its board of directors.
Rodríguez Pimentel was chosen president of that movement, in which José Espaillat appears as acting president. Eight vice presidents were chosen, including Annie Felipe and the same number of secretaries, including the geologist Osiris de León, who will assume the role of general secretary.
In addition, the new current will have four advisers, who are Ricardo Espaillat, Virgilio Álvarez Bonilla, Leonardo Matos Berrido and Zoila Martínez.
This Sunday, the National Political Commission of the Renovating Current was formed, made up of 138 members and the Presidential Directory, which has 78 members, according to the directories given to journalists.
When speaking with the journalists and during his speech at the event, held at the Los Prados Club, in this city, Rodríguez Pimentel assured that the members of the new current are the true Balagueristas.
For him a PRSC without assuming the work and thought of the late leader Joaquín Balaguer, it is an empty party.
Also, the political leader accused the authorities of the PRSC to keep that party “kidnapped”, to abandon it and to strategically “come out” every four years to resort to electoral alliances.
He believes that the party authorities, which he called a “group of friends”, always look for particular interests and not those of that political organization.
He questioned what he called the “collapse” of the PRSC from being a majority party to becoming a minority one, obtaining in the last elections only 1.7 percent of the votes.
Pimentel argued that from this Sunday the new current, which he leads, began a critical route to create the provincial and municipal directories.
He said that the first activity they will carry out will be in Barahona on October 30.
Precisely on that same day, the authorities of the PRSCthrough its president, Federico Antun Batllecalled for an Ordinary National Convention, which will begin at 10 in the morning, at the headquarters of that political organization, located on Tiradentes Avenue, in the National District.
The call is endorsed by the Internal Elections Commission of the PRSCchaired by Máximo Castro Silverio, by the Presidential Directorate (DP) and by the National Political Commission (CPN).
