The vice president of the Nicolás Maduro administration, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that over 70 new cases of covid 19 reported in the country in the last few hours, 58 of which were due to community transmission and 12 of the so-called “imported” ones.
With the new registered cases, the total number of infections amounts to 545,593, while the number of deaths continues at 5,820.
“Caracas is the entity where the largest number of new community cases (19) with active infections in nine parishes is detected this Saturday,” Rodríguez tweeted.
He pointed out that in number of infections, it is followed by the states of Miranda with 14, Zulia with 10 and Yaracuy with 5.
Similarly, Rodríguez specified that there are 539,016 recovered patients, which represents 99% of the cases, in addition to 757 current active cases.
“The virus is still among us and maintaining special care will always be the best tool to avoid contagion,” he posted on his Twitter account.

Second booster vaccine against covid-19
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended on August 18, for the first time, the use of a second booster vaccine or fourth dose against covid-19.
Specifically, they suggested that it be applied to the groups most likely to develop a severe clinical picture, after observing a decline in immunity against the omicron variant.
These groups include all older people (each country must establish from what age) immunosuppressed people, all adults with chronic diseases, as well as pregnant women and health personnel.
The ideal interval between the first and second booster should be between four and six months. This is because it has been seen that the effectiveness of vaccines against covid-19 is beginning to decrease.
If this period is exceeded, they warn, the person at risk should be vaccinated as soon as possible.
