The recycling Currently it plays an important role in the development of the different sectors of society, and fashion is no exception. A group of young people and adolescents from the Sanchez municipalitySamaná province, are dedicated to making outfits using recyclable items.
Newspapers, magazines, covers, paper, and plastics are the materials that young people use in “Eco Fashion”name of the project, which seeks not only fashion innovation, but also environmental awareness and its impact on society and future generations.

Every year the young women carry out a parade with a theme in which they exhibit different designs where they raise funds to help low-income people in the community.
Purses, necklaces, earrings, skirts and dresses are part of the innovative pieces that are presented in the activity.
María Fernández Sánchez, one of the members commented to Caribbean that there is hard work behind the beautiful designs that involves training and talks in different schools, in order to make adolescents and children aware of the importance of recycling on our planet.
“We gave talks to different educational centers in Sánchez on how reducing, reusing and recycling we can make a difference in our environment because recycling is a collective need.”

“The most beautiful anecdote is having shared with those girls and adolescents who are interested in getting to know what we do and sharing them with others,” said Benny Drullard.
Stake
Eco Fashion was born in 2015 under the direction of Alexandra Jazmín. Over time, Alanna Rojas and Angelina Beato, members of the team, introduced themselves as designers launching their own collection of dresses, and are currently leading the project.
Eco Fashion has participated in events such as:
• Ethno-Mix meeting of cultures held in the terrenas
•Inclusive fashion in San Francisco de Macorís organized by the Dominican Association of Rehabilitation
• Coco bay in Samaná
The young women from the municipality of Sánchez in the province of Samaná hope to be able to impact their community and thereby help people in need while fulfilling their passion for fashion.
