The trial resumed yesterday with the opening statements. Both the Public Ministry and the Attorney General’s Office were blunt in stating that Vladimir Cerrón illegally created a public need by ordering the construction of an airfield in the Orcotuna district when there was already another one in Jauja.
Cerrón’s defense, for its part, indicated that it was not Cerrón who promoted this project but rather “obeyed” the orders of the Regional Council -whose commission was in charge of the defendants Silvia Castillo, Saúl Arcos and Eddy Misari- to start construction From this project.
On the other hand, he said that it is not a need created by Cerrón, but that even the current Government of Pedro Castillo, in the Budget Law for 2022, declared its construction of national interest.
