Eduardo Lust: "half of the Cabildo Abierto were torturers"

The deputy for the Open Council, Eduardo Lust, would have told a group of party collaborators in 2020 that “half of the Open Council were torturers and are here,” as published this Thursday by the weekly Search.

According to the media, in August 2020 Lust received in his office a group of co-religionists who had helped him in his campaign for the 2019 parliamentary elections, a group of militants that he had “quite neglected” due to agenda issues, according to his own words at that time. The idea was to talk about political issues and in relation to the departmental elections that were coming up by then.

The topics discussed were released to the public at the time, but not the exact conversations, whose audios reached the aforementioned medium.

At the meeting, Lust also had a folder with documents of the criminal complaint that he presented against the late former president, Tabaré Vázquez and his cabinet for alleged irregularities in the signing of the contract between the State and the UPM company, a case that was rejected as it was not found any crime.

The deputy, who is also a constitutional lawyer and grade 4 professor of Law, also advised the leader of the Cabildo Abierto, Guido Manini Ríos, in the previous presentation before the Justice – which did not finish materializing – for allegedly not having denounced before the Justice, when he was commander of the Army, who knew that José Nino Gavazzo had confessed in a military court that he had thrown the body of the communist Roberto Gomensoro into the river in 1973.

“They were torturers and here they are”

The weekly ensures that in the meeting, towards the end, Lust questioned his own party for suspending a collaborator of his for a complaint of gender violence, and assured that this surprised the militants themselves.

“What did Adrián do? Don’t tell me that Adrián got into a fight with his girlfriend, because that doesn’t interest me … I say, what did he do at the Cabildo? If he fought with his girlfriend … I got divorced … But we are the (party) of people’s opportunity, (we think) that people have to be given a chance, “Lust began by saying.

“Half of the Cabildo Abierto were torturers and they are here … and you, who are on trial because you hit a pineapple at a mine, are they going to kick you out?” He added, to the amazement of several. The militant in question is Adrián Puppo, who was suspended by CA after being denounced last June.

After a brief pause, Lust continued with his argument: “No, no, look, I don’t eat the pill”, and Puppo defended himself: “I didn’t hit him a pineapple”, an answer to which Lust replied: “You would have hit him , because they did something to you … They gave you a garrón (due to the suspension of the match). You’re a turnip! ”.
