Cosse visited Udelar to extend an invitation for the 300 years of Montevideo

Cosse expressed his “honor” of being together with the Central Board of Directors of the University and explained the reason for his visit: “We are going to start a path towards the 300 years of Montevideo and we want to start by calling some important institutions and some areas referents”.

In this sense, to start this path, a call will be made to the citizens and the Intendancy aspires to have a vast participation in “this process of reflection that implies turning 300 years old” and for this “today I am in the academic field par excellence of Uruguay”, he assured. He understands that it can be an important opportunity to “get to know each other and learn more about our history. To reflect on our distant and not so distant history, to revive and re-know ourselves better in the close history of grandparents and great-grandparents and think of ourselves as the grandparents and great-grandparents of those who will come. He affirmed that there are numerous ideas for this celebration but that to carry it out “the participation of all people is key.”

He recalled that with the ABC Plan, the Municipality of Montevideo is developing a territorial plan and important generation of knowledge with different Faculties of the Udelar and this environmental strategy that the Plan implies requires a great cultural change. “We want this celebration for the 300 years to be a breeze of history that renews us,” he predicted and in this sense, he invited all the members of the CDC to the first meeting towards Montevideo’s 300 years to be held on October 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Solís Theater. In this activity, the strategy of this process will be presented and you will be invited to join one of the four thematic areas of work because “we want it to explode in participation and for 2023 to be an effervescence of history, reflection, science, innovation and humanism towards the 300 years of Montevideo, “said the mayor. Lastly, she congratulated the rector Rodrigo Arim for his re-election and gave him the personalized invitation on behalf of the ones she brought to each of the members of the CDC.
