Mexico opens 749 new places with high salaries for doctors and more than a hundred are Cuban

The Government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador will pay more than 2,600 dollars a month for each of the 749 foreign doctors that it summoned last October 11 to fill vacancies in remote places in Mexico. The amount almost doubles the 1,400 dollars that national doctors currently receive, according to data from the Government of Mexico.

“It’s an insult to Mexican doctors,” Marco Antonio, an orthopedist who works in the state of Mexico, tells this newspaper. “You don’t believe that while my salary is 1,600 dollars a month, a call is opened and they give 1,000 dollars more to foreigners.”

He also stated that the data is not a surprise: “See the disparity that exists between the salaries of the Institute of Health for Well-being (Insabi) with those of the IMSS (Mexican Institute of Social Security) and the ISSSTE (Institute of Security and Social Services). of State Workers).

According to the Center for Economic and Budgetary Research (CIEP), last year the salary of a medical specialist was between 830 dollars and 2,300 dollars. While in the Insabi, the average salary is 2,000 dollars, in the IMSS it is 537 and in the ISSSTE it is 780.

Among the 2,067 requests received by the Mexican government until October 17, 104 are from Cubans, the general director of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, said last Tuesday. Another 169 specialists come from the United States, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.

For the hired toilets, Mexico will pay the “round plane ticket, transfer to the place of residence and workplace, immigration procedures and requirements, as well as the academic validation of educational institutions, food support and lodging.” In total, each doctor costs $36,000 per year.

The more than 600 Cubans hired by Mexico “are military” and “none is a specialist doctor”, but family doctors or generalists

This salary is also higher than the one received by the 436 Cubans, from a group of 642 hired by the Government of Mexico, who are already in various hospitals in marginalized areas. The López Obrador Administration pays the Island $2,042 per specialist and $1,722 for each general practitioner.

Robledo confirmed that the new Cuban specialists will be hired through the Island’s Ministry of Health and Cuban Medical Services, SA This last company, created in 2011, has been accused internationally of human trafficking and forced labor.

The last week of August, the Madrid-based organization Prisoners Defenders (PD) revealed in his report The military truth behind the Cuban medical missions in Mexico that the more than 600 Cubans hired by Mexico “are military” and “none are medical specialists” (but rather family doctors or general practitioners).

The president of the PD, Javier Larrondo, denounced that the López Obrador government “is allowing slavery on Mexican soil” and “financing” the Cuban regime.

Meanwhile, Beatriz Pagés, former deputy of Mexico and director of the magazine Alwayspointed out that the mission of the groups of doctors is “more political, more military and of indoctrination than health”.

The most demanded specialties in that country are gynecology, obstetrics and anesthesia. Specialized personnel in pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, internist, cardiology, neurosurgery, neonatology, ophthalmology, oncology, cardiology are also required.
