A team of journalists that he was covering the indefinite unemployment that Santa Cruz complies with, against Supreme Decree 4760 that sets the census for 2024, was attacked by a shock group that rejects this measure, in the area of the sixth ring road and Santos Dumont avenue.
The journalist Gabriela Linares and her cameraman Fernando Ruíz, who belong to the Gigavisión network, They were not only beaten but also suffered theft and destruction of their work equipment, even the driver who was transporting it was attacked.
Linares reported that they were one block from the sixth ring road, near a pump, just at the entrance to the Los Lotes area, where the cameraman was taking some shots from afar, a situation that caused annoyance to the people of the shock group and first a few approached, but despite the fact that they explained to them that they were journalists and were working, they accused them of being ‘infiltrators’ and began to struggle trying to deprive them of their work tools.
“We were parked, a group came to see us and they wanted to get the camera because we were recording. Four to five women they wanted to remove the cell phone because I recorded thembut after About 40 more people came,” recalls Linares.
The cameraman got out of the vehicle and grabbed his camera, resisted having his work tool taken away, and two men punched him in the nose, breaking it.
Not satisfied with this, the mob entered the vehicle and challenged everything in its path, they managed to grab a cell phone and stole it, meanwhile, other people also tried to take the journalist’s cell phone, and after the struggle, a man snatched it from her and threw it to the floor and other people trampled on it three times until it broke.
The driver of the cell phone in which the press team was traveling was also beaten when he tried to defend the journalists, who had his cell phone damaged and beaten.
“They didn’t care at all even though they we said that we were of the press, they stole a cell phone, they rebutted the whole car. MYo cameraman got off with the cameraand they took out a cell phone,” the journalist reiterated.
The shock group was with heavy machinery, ready to unlock the fenced points in the area, and despite the movement of the group, they denounce that there was no police presence.
For his part, Fernando Ruiz added that, despite being far away, they approached them and caused the incident.leaving him with a broken and bloody nose.
He even pointed out that people thought they were journalists from El Deber, so the neighbors believe they were seeking revenge, since this outlet reported other incidents earlier, one of them against journalists who went out to cover the same area and a group of people tried to take away their cell phones.
Guider Arancibia and Juan Carlos Torrejón, were rebuked by the shock group, that he sought to avoid being recorded and demanded not only the presentation of his credentials but also wanted to take away his work tools.

However, not only journalists were not spared from the attacks, but also passers-by and other neighbors that they recorded to identify the shock groups, that not only circulated with machinery, but in some vans and generated violence as they passed.
