The number of femicides continues to rise in the country, since from 412 registered in 2015, last year the figure rose to 887, Laura Imelda Pérez Segura, a deputy from Morena, warned in the gallery of the Permanent Commission, who highlighted that Jalisco is the third entity with the most murders of women.
He added that according to the Executive Secretariat of the Public Security System, last year 2,540 women were victims of intentional homicide, and of these, 887 were classified as femicides.
The proposed point of agreement highlights that between 2015 and 2020, intentional homicides against women have increased 61.01 percent each year, and femicides, 130.33 percent. Are Figures only show that violence against women, which threatens their lives, has grown alarmingly
.
He highlighted that seven entities (state of Mexico, Veracruz, Jalisco, Mexico City and Nuevo León) concentrated 51.86 percent of the femicides in 2021, with 460 of 887 registered.
The highest figure (130) corresponded to the state of Mexico, 65 to Veracruz, 64 to Jalisco, 60 to Mexico City and 52 to Nuevo León, said the deputy of Morena.
He insisted that in Jalisco the problem has increased during the government of Enrique Alfaro Ramírez. He explained that for every 100 femicides in the country, seven occur in the state.
In 2021, he highlighted, there were 64 femicides in Jalisco, which represents an increase of 128.57 percent compared to 2018, when Alfaro Ramírez took office as governor. Most of these gender crimes, he stressed, remain unpunished, which is why he insisted on the need for the local government to apply public policies that guarantee the safety of women in that entity. It not only hurts, but it hurts each and every one of the women of the entity to which I belong and represent.
She added that impunity aggravates these figures, as a result of the spiral of violence against women.
The report’s conclusions Impunity in intentional homicide and femicides in Mexico 2020, from the civil organization Impunidad Cero, point out that nine out of 10 women victims of femicide do not find justice
, making Jalisco the third state with the highest impunity in the entire country.
