The Dominican Republic has received a direct Venezuelan investment of approximately 553.3 million dollars, according to the report «Economic Impact of Venezuelan Migration in the Dominican Republic: Reality vs Potential»prepared by Equilibrium Social Development Consulting.

Among other relevant data, he highlighted that the Venezuelan migrant and refugee population in the Dominican Republic has a high percentage of professionals: 40.15% have higher education (including doctorates and master’s degrees) and 17.39% with higher technical studies.

This study was carried out with the support of the Swedish International Agency for Cooperation and Development, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Panamanian-Venezuelan Chamber of Entrepreneurs (Cepaven), the Chamber of Venezuelan Entrepreneurs, Executives and Entrepreneurs Abroad (Cavex) and the Venezuelan Dominican Chamber (Cadoven).

“This analysis carried out between the months of June and September 2022 estimates the consumption and income generation of the migrant population for this year. The entire Venezuelan migrant population in the Dominican Republic is taken into account as the objective of the study, considering the Economically Inactive Population (PEI), as the Economically Active Population (PEA)”, explained the organizers. in the document reviewed by the portal The Venezuelan.

They pointed out that the Venezuelan employer population amounts to 2,666 units that generate 9,023 jobs, of which 5,865 are Dominicans and 3,158 are Venezuelans.

In relation to the expenses that Venezuelan migration implies for the Dominican economy, it was estimated that by 2022, expenditures on health amount to $6.8 million and on education $6.5 million.

«The estimates of the potential impact of Venezuelan migration on the Dominican economy fall on the assumption of reaching the full regularization of this population in 2022. So that they can access the same opportunities as a person who has a residence permit. The results show that the potential fiscal impact would reach the sum of $50.4 million, which represents 0.4% of the total tax collection of the Dominican Republic in 2021″, indicated the report.
