The PT candidate for the government of the state of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, said today (21) that, if elected, he will extend the Carvalho Pinto Highway to the city of Aparecida, in the Paraíba Valley. Currently, the highway, which starts at the junction with Rodovia Ayrton Senna, in Guararema (SP), reaches the vicinity of the city of Taubaté, about 40 kilometers from Aparecida.
“I included this proposal in my government program after a visit to the region. I talked to several business and popular leaders who asked for this extension. This will relieve existing highways,” said the candidate.
Haddad also said that he intends to create an intercity train in the Vale do Paraíba region. “What I really want is to take a medium-speed train to regions like São José dos Campos and Campinas. It is a work that can be done in two years”, he added.
