SANTO DOMINGO.- The Public Ministry began before the judge of the Seventh Court of Instruction of the National District, Deiby Peguero, with the presentation of the accusation against those involved in the Pulpo case, which was led by Alexis Medina Sánchez, brother of former president Danilo Medina.
The accusation establishes that the corruption network was executed by the accused Alexis, after taking advantage of influence peddling because he was the President’s brother at that time, to steal State resources for his benefit.
The criminal organization created a corporate network made up of folder companies that were to contract with the State, despite not having the capacity, or competence, or personnel, or equipment to carry out their operations.
The head of the Specialized Prosecutor for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), Wilson Camacho, said that 139 pages of the accusation against the defendants in the Octopus case have been presented, and they hope that in a reasonable period of time they will be read, the which, has 3,445 pages.
