The institution announced the results through a press document.

The General Directorate of Internal Taxes released the general collection for 2021 which amounted to RD $ 607,446.4 million, a figure reached after two reformulations of the General State Budget for that period.

It was an unprecedented year in the tax administration in terms of efficiency and volume of collections, the institution said in a press document. The level of compliance registered during the past year was 125.4% in relation to the first budget presented of RD $ 485,000 million, and 101.0 percent, equivalent to RD $ 5,891.8 million above the RD $ 601,554.5 million estimated in the last reformulated Budget.

Compared to 2019 (prepandemic), collections in 2021 implied RD $ 124,370.6 million more, equivalent to 25.7% above, since for that period RD $ 483,075.8 million were collected.

Compared with that period and not with 2020 because in the latter the effects of the covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the local and global economy.

“The year 2021 registered a successful process of tax amnesty through Law 46-20 of Revaluation and Equity Transparency by which RD $ 35,269.4 million were collected at the end of the process in December,” said the DGII. Of that sum, RD $ 17,221.5 were for debt facilities, for 48.8%; for revaluation of equity RD $ 10,186.8, representing 28.9%, and for amnesty RD $ 7,861.0, equivalent to 22.3%.

The amount collected in December was RD $ 50,240.1 million for a compliance of 108.5% and RD $ 3,931.0 million more than that estimated in the reformulated Budget, which was RD $ 46,309.1. When comparing with December 2019, when RD $ 43,005.3 was collected, the increase was RD $ 7,234.8 million, which is equivalent to 16.8%.
