Oscar-nominated director Pablo Larraín will once again work with a leading Hollywood actress for his new film.
This is Angelina Jolie, who will star in a biographical film about the renowned Greek opera singer Maria Callas.
This was announced this Friday by Variety magazine, which spoke with the Chilean about the project.
The film will be called Maria and will tell “the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the life of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris.”
“Having the opportunity to combine my two deepest and most personal passions, cinema and opera, has been a long-awaited dream,” the filmmaker after Spencer, Jackie and Neruda told the magazine.
In addition, he said that “doing this with Angelina, an extremely brave and curious artist, is an exciting opportunity. A real gift.”
For her part, the interpreter pointed out that “I take very seriously the responsibility for the life and legacy of María. I will give everything I can to meet the challenge. Pablo Larraín is a director I have admired for a long time. Getting the opportunity to tell more of Maria’s story with him, and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream.”
As Jolie pointed out, the film’s screenplay was written by Steven Knight, in charge of productions such as Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises and spencerthe film by Larraín that starred Kristen Stewart, nominated for an Oscar for best actress.
