The Court of Auditors of the State of São Paulo (TCE-SP) carried out yesterday (20) a surprise inspection in 273 hospitals and health units in the state managed by Social Health Organizations (OSS). Of this total, 232 locations are the responsibility of the municipalities and 41 belong to the state network. The action took place in 120 different cities to assess the quality of service to users and the physical conditions of the units and medical equipment.
According to the TCESP, among the items inspected are the control of the presence of medical teams, the conditions of storage of medicines, cleaning, accessibility of the facilities and the transport of patients.
“The TCE found irregularities such as expired medicines in 13% of the inspected units; doctors absent from their jobs in 12% of cases; and broken or disused diagnostic equipment in 31% of the locations,” the agency said in a statement.
Buildings in a precarious situation were also found, with waiting rooms with moldy walls and infiltrations; restrooms prohibited and without conditions of use; broken and disused furniture, and the presence of a dog in the waiting room.
In addition, 61% of the inspected health units do not have a Fire Department Inspection Report. “The managers of contracts signed with third sector entities will be notified and to haveThere is a period of 10 days to present justifications to the Court about possible irregularities”, informed the TCE.
