The viral street dweller these days gave an interview in which he even spoke about politics and some said that it was all a set up to get money, but many more came out in defense of ‘Choco’.
Colombia News.
Once his video went viral, it was the people in Bucaramanga who helped locate him on the street, counting on the platforms in which areas he slept regularly, where he went with his furry friends to ask for food and which streets he had traveled for years, his video celebrating Shaggy’s birthday in a park, changed the life of ‘Choco’.
Although he has received massive support, including a place to sleep with his faithful companions: Shaggy and Nena, he has not been without messages of criticism.
Some even doubt the veracity of the video, point out that he uses “dogs for profit”, and even doubt that he lives on the street.
Meanwhile, José Luis Matos, who says he was born in Barranquilla but has traveled to cities in the Caribbean, Santander and has been on the street since he was 10 years old, continues to receive support.
They have made interviews with him in different media, several of his videos continue to go viral on networks and he himself, I already believe his Instagram.
A very lucid interview
Perhaps one of the most relaxed and lengthy interviews he has ever given was to Semana Magazine this Wednesday.
He said that when he was 10 years old, he left home fleeing domestic violence, and that he took a significant amount of money with him, his first stop in Valledupar.
“But I’ve never stolen,” he said bluntly.
He also said that he was in the hands of Family Welfare, but inexplicably ended up on the street after a problem in a foster home, he almost drowned in a river, a couple of foreigners helped him, then again the ICBF took him into custody and there if he escaped.
That when he returned home to the Atlantic, “my mother did not welcome me.”
He was from one place to another; He worked as a fisherman, construction helper, and in other trades, including gardener.
Given his ability to spin, answer each question and speak calmly, many have questioned his street condition.
They even criticize the dedication of space to it, “when there are more important topics to be investigated.”
His eloquence, good vocabulary, the ability to remember details; names, places, jobs he has done, broadened the debate and controversy.
«So you have to speak like a ‘nero’ so that they believe that you are a street dweller?», many responded.
However, in Bucaramanga, many recognize him and point out that he hangs out in the Cuadra Play area, in the Cabecera and Terrazas neighborhoods. For years they have seen him walk with his furry ones.
Now, he sleeps in a hotel while he finishes organizing all the help and support that has come to him.
His goal is to set up a foundation that allows him to help street cats and dogs.
This was the interview:
Thus was born the history of Choco in networks
A small cake, hats, plates and a piece of cake (that a woman was going to throw away and he asked her), but ‘Choco’ distributed it in order of importance; first his furry companions and then him, who before tasting it shed tears.
A piece of cake for one of his dogs, the other for the other, a short “happy birthday,” a couple of palms and a meal.
The birthday was ‘Shaggy’, four years old.
Sitting on a staircase, in a park near residential buildings in Bucaramanga.
Someone who was in the areaYissel Rodriguez) decided to record part of the scene: «The most beautiful thing I have seen», is just one of thousands of love comments for ‘Choco’ and his dogs.
