The PT candidate for the government of the state of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, said today (20) that he intends to install 70 public day hospitals in cities in the interior of the state. According to the candidate, this hospital model burdens the Unified Health System (SUS) less and relieves regional hospitals.
“We need to take 70 day hospitals to the interior so that for every 400 thousand inhabitants we have a day hospital”, he said in an interview with SBT Interior. “Day hospitals perform surgeries that do not depend on hospitalization, which is an expensive part of the treatment. These surgeries can be done on an outpatient basis and the person recovers at home. This gives great agility and relieves regional hospitals and Santas Casas”.
The candidate recalled that, when he was mayor of São Paulo, he installed 35 hospitals of this modality in the city. “The capital got to know the 35 hospitals that I delivered. The interior still doesn’t know what this SUS facility is to relieve regional hospitals,” he said.
Haddad also stated that he intends to recover the Nota Fiscal Paulista program to increase the resources of the Santas Casas. “We need to recover the Nota Fiscal Paulista to support the Santa Casas that are not receiving transfers from the state government”.
