On the night of this Thursday, October 20, the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, sanctioned the Law that institutes the National Festival of the “Pintao” Hat in the district of La Pintada, province of Coclé, and creates its patronage, to provide legal certainty. to the policies and actions aimed at the preservation of this unique art of national culture.
This is Law 728, which establishes that the State will recognize an annual support, through the Ministry of Culture, the Tourism Authority of Panama and the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Social Development. In addition, an item from the budget of these institutions will be allocated annually for “The Festival of the Pintao Hat”.
“With the support of this government that believes in the talent of our people, let us work together to achieve development that produces benefits in an equitable manner for all Panamanians. Wearing a “Pintao” Hat is carrying a piece of Panama with us,” said Cortizo after the signing of this Law.
